9:30am-9:45am: Check In at:

Branham Hangar 4701 Aircraft Drive Anchorage, AK 99502

Most Hotels offer shuttles services that will drop you off and pick you up. Parking is available at our Hangar. Taxi/Uber is readily available in Anchorage. If you’re exploring Alaska by RV/Motorhome, please give us call to arrange parking.

Guests will check in at our Hangar on Lake Hood 30 minutes prior to departure time.  For safety/weight/balance of the plane, each guest must provide accurate weights upon booking and to pilot upon arrival.  Guests are welcome to leave baggage at the hangar office, no additional charge.

10am: Depart Lake Hood Seaplane Base

10am-11:30am: Flight Seeing Tour over Cook Inlet and the Aleutian Mountain Range

11:30am-Noon: Arrive at Brooks Camp, Lunch and *Bear School

*Every visitor to Brooks Camp undergoes "Bear School" or "Bear Orientation" annually. Typically, participants watch a concise ten-minute video followed by a brief discussion with a ranger. Alternatively, they may receive a comprehensive ten-minute talk covering the same information as the video.

Alaska Bear Trips provides a great lunch, snacks and drinks which will be packed special daily. Make sure to let us know if you have any food restrictions.

NOON-5pm: Bear Viewing/Exploring

Be prepared to take lots of pictures. Charge up your phone and batteries, and have extra batteries and/or SD Cards for your camera.

5pm: Depart Brooks Camp

Arrive Back in Anchorage between 6:30pm-7:30pm

If you’re planning on making dinner reservations for the evening of your trip, we highly recommend making them for later than 8pm.

Important Info:

You should not plan plane connections on the same day of this trip, it is not worth the stress.  If visiting Brooks Camp in Katmai is extremely important to you, please allow time in your schedule for possible delays or rescheduling of this trip.  This tour flies two hundred miles and through multiple mountain passes to reach Katmai, we do sometimes have to cancel or move our time around for weather and fog.  

Please be aware that medical care is limited not readily available in Brooks Camp.  You will be traveling to a remote part of the state only accessed from air.

WHAT TO BRING:

Light Daypack, sunglasses, bug spray, camera, binoculars, essential medications.  

WHAT TO WEAR:

Alaska’s weather can change dramatically throughout the day. The basic rules for clothing is to dress comfortably and in layers; Wear comfortable shoes (waterproof ideally), and bring a rain jacket you can stuff in your day pack.
